Background:

The DASIS Report:  Quick Statistics -- State level data on substance abuse treatment facilities and admissions

The DASIS Report:  Introducing Quick Tables: SAMHSA's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) recently added a new component to its online analysis capabilities called Quick Tables.  Quick Tables allows users to produce analytic tables by choosing variables from Drop-down menus.   This report provides an example showing the six easy steps to use Quick Tables to analyze any of the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) files.

Treatment Data by State (Click on The DASIS Report: Quick Statistics for background information on using the quick statistics below to get the latest State level data on substance abuse treatment facilities and admissions. Data on all States combined are also available from these Quick Statistics programs.)

N-SSATS Quick Statistics - - State treatment facility characteristics: provides summary tables with data on number of facilities and clients by the following facility characteristics: type of ownership/operation; type of opioid treatment program; type of payment accepted; type of administrative arrangement/funding; facility capacity and utilization rate; licensing, accreditation or other approval organization; and focus on substance abuse, mental health, or general health care. Data tables are provided for each year from 2002 to most recent year submitted by each State.

TEDS Quick Statistics - - admissions level data: provides summary tables of primary substance of abuse for admissions by demographic characteristics for each year from 1992 to most recent year submitted by each State.

Prevalence Data for Substance Use and for Serious Mental Illness:

Tables by Variables -- with all States listed in each table with their estimated numbers of persons using illicit drugs, drug dependent, getting treatment, perceiving risks, etc.

Table by States -- with all selected variables in each table (Selected Drug Use, Perceptions of Great Risk, Average Annual Marijuana Initiates, Past Year Substance Dependence or Abuse, Needing But Not Receiving Treatment, and Mental Health variables)
