CHAPTER 5: WORKPLACE DRUG TESTING PROGRAMS

In both 1994 and 1997, respondents of the NHSDA provided information, based on their knowledge, on whether their workplace had drug testing programs. They were also asked about their job market participation preferences for different drug testing programs. This chapter presents results of workers reports on the extent that various drug testing programs were implemented at their workplaces as well as workers= tendencies to work for an employer under various workplace drug testing circumstances. The following questions will be addressed: Were there any changes regarding workplace drug testing programs between 1994 and 1997? Which employees were more likely to report that their workplace had drug testing programs? Are drug users more or less likely to say they would work for an employer that was known to have a drug testing program?
