Figure C.3 is a bar chart showing the percentages of youths aged 12 to 17 reporting past year marijuana use, by the age of the respondent and by whether the youths had a special course on drug education taught by a special teacher. This figure utilizes data from the 1997 NHSDA. The chart indicates that among younger youths (aged 12 or 13), the rates of past year marijuana use were lower among youths who had a special course on drug education. For older youths (aged 17), the rate of past year marijuana use was higher among youths who had a special course on drug education.
